Divine Rights vs Popular Sovereignty

Some argue that our rights come from the Ten Commandments, the Bible, and God. This entails advocating a divinely anointed government and a theocratic system. In such a system, we wouldn't really have any rights anymore. The only protection for our rights is to recognize that human rights are a human creation - that they are part of us, not above us.
