Interviewed by Jacob Fortin

Jacob Fortin, "The Good Atheist," has been doing a special series for "The Good Atheist Podcast": Atheist Appreciation Month! As a way of showing and encouraging more appreciation towards atheists online, he's been interviewing some atheists he thinks deserve more attention than they are currently getting.

Last week, I was lucky enough to be interviewed for this series and the podcast episode was posted a couple of days ago: The Good Atheist Podcast: Bonus Show 105 (Interview with Austin Cline).

Naturally, Jacob and I discuss this site -- in particular, how long I've been working on it (since 1998 -- can you believe it?) and how much has changed during that time. Blogging didn't even exist when I started here... We also talk about other stuff I've been working on, if you've ever wondered about that.

Interviewing atheists isn't the only thing Jacob Fortin has been doing, though. The podcast posted prior to his interview of me is all about the book he's working on: Bible Stories. There's a Kickstarter campaign to get funding and there Jacob explains:

I think reading the Bible is the most effective way to lose your faith. There is a snag, however. The Bible is not an enjoyable read. It's a stuffy, boring, and confusing mess, which explains why so few people read it. My aim is to change that. I want to make the Bible more accessible for people.

I want it to be a funny, sarcastic, and honest look at the stories and claims of this book, without any punches being pulled. It's my belief readers will come to see the Bible for what it really is: a collection of ancient stories, and nothing more.

At the time of this writing he's pretty close to the minimum he needs to get his book made. At a certain contribution level, you can get your face included in one of the book's illustrations. That strikes me as a pretty cool bonus -- so go check it out!
