Mailbag God is Coming Part 2

From: "Ronald"
Subject: Concern
"Nuvos Ordo Seclorum" thats New World Order, and we have a world court and the United Nations. Now all thats left is a world government.. The one G-d of the Bible is real and HE is comming back..I do not believe in coensidences.

There are so many fundamentalists with so little understanding of language, whether their own or an ancient tongue like Latin. The phrase "Novus Ordo Seclorum" is sometimes translated as "New World Order," but only by fundamentalists who just don't know what they are doing. It's a favorite on many conspiracy web sites.

In reality, "Novus Ordo Seclorum" is better translated as something like "New Order for the Ages" - it refers to the idea common at the beginning of the United States that the authors of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were creating a radical new form of government that, they hoped, would last a very long time.

Darwin was just a man like us, and we know far more about biology and DNA than he ever did. You trust what he says..

I am willing to trust the results of science, but that is different from trusting the writings of Darwin, now many decades old. Much of what he said turned out to be right, but one shouldn't assume that absolutely every detail in every one of his books is absolutely correct. Science has moved on since he took pen to paper.

It's curious how often fundamentalists will pick on poor Charles Darwin - it's almost as if they can't quite criticize evolutionary theory without also having Darwin as a boogey-man. Charles Darwin might have gotten the ball rolling with the first systematic and scientific description of a theory of evolution, but evolution today doesn't stand or fall on his character or anything he wrote.

Science has moved on and the science of evolution is based upon multiple converging lines of evidence, not the writings of a single man. Darwin's book Origin of the Species is not a Bible of evolution and it is not analogous to a Bible, so fundamentalists should stop treating it like one.

G-d is Supreme over all because that is the definition of G-d, HIS Word is the Bible, and I trust what HE says, HE is above us and must be..Other "religions" are man made, they deny JESUS to be G-d and twist what the Bible{Genisis- Revelation.} says.. G-d said NOT to do.. Islam and Mormonism do this. Its obviously false, along with poloytheism and buddists, the list could keep going. I hope I have helped you in any way.

Ronald trusts what "HE" says, but whom does he trust to inform him what "HE" has said in the first place? Eventually, Ronald is forced to place his trust in other human beings - parents, priests, religious authorities from millennia ago - who tell him that this set of writings is from God and another set is not.

Theoretically, Ronald could be right - there's nothing to prevent that from being the case, logically speaking. But what are the chances of that? Is there any particular reason to think that Ronald believes in the only god that really exists and happens to follow the only scriptures that really come from a god? I don't know, but I personally wouldn't wager any money on him.
